About Stevie Ray Vaughan
Stevie Ray Vaughan is widely considered one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time. In his brief career (he passed in 1990 at age 35), he revitalized blues guitar and influenced generations of players.
His playing combined the fire of Jimi Hendrix with the soul of Albert King, all filtered through his unique Texas sensibility. Songs like "Pride and Joy," "Texas Flood," and "Scuttle Buttin'" showcase his explosive technique and deep feel.
SRV's tone came from the combination of heavy strings, tube amps pushed hard, and his incredibly powerful picking hand. His Strat "Number One" and Fender/Dumble amps are legendary, but much of his sound came from his aggressive, dynamic picking technique.
